Victim, Shooter Identified In Buford Murder: Police

Police have identified the victim and suspect in Tuesday's fatal shooting in downtown Buford.

BUFORD, GA — Police have identified the victim and suspect in Tuesday's fatal shooting in downtown Buford.

The victim has been identified as Allen Craig Willard Jr., 25, of Suwanee. The suspect is Jerome Daniel Colvin, 34 years, of Auburn. He is charged with felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault. The two parties involved worked together in the Buford area, according to police.

Gwinnett Police received a call at 12:10 p.m. to a report of an active shooter happening at the intersection of South Lee Street and West Main Street in downtown Buford. Officers responded and located a dead man in the roadway.

Police determined that it was not an active shooter but a shooting due to a dispute between known parties. A description of the shooter was obtained and given to responding units. The man was apprehended moments later as he was trying to flee the area on foot.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the dispute and subsequent shooting, police said.
