The father of a teenage girl killed by Wesley Ira Purkey spoke to reporters Thursday after Purkey received a lethal injection at a federal prison in Indiana. William Long says he'll never have closure. (July 16)
WILLIAM LONG: There is no closure-- never will be-- 'cause I won't get my daughter back. But you know what he did. Don't need to go into it. And he went to sleep. He didn't feel anything. I have no comment towards his family. His family know what he did. Everybody else knows what he did. I know what he did.
Way too many delays, too many. Putting in for appeals, and it's just-- it needs to be rescrutinized. It's not right. I've been waiting 17 years for something that-- even though there was a moratorium on death row. There's monsters out there that need to be gettin' rid of. They need to be put down like the dogs they are. There's just-- there's no excuse for it.
