Victims of Salina Middle School coach abuse reach a settlement

SALINA, Okla. (KFOR) – After months of investigations and several students coming forward with accusations of inappropriate touching by John Horner, the attorneys for the victims say they have reached a settlement.

According to police officials, the investigation into Coach Horner at Salina Middle School began in March of 2019.

Investigators say the nine month investigation started after parents contacted police after their daughters claimed they were inappropriately touched on the legs and thighs by Horner.

Horner was charged with eight counts of lewd molestation in Mayes County District Court.

Police respond to reported shooting in Warr Acres

Attorney Tod S. Mercer representing the victims in this case said, “On behalf of the 15 young girls that were victims of sexual abuse in this case, we are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative settlement agreement with Salina Public Schools only for the sum of $2,625,000.00. The civil lawsuit remains pending against John Horner.”
