Psst, this is the dermatologist-approved secret to Victoria Beckham’s unblemished skin!
Posh Spice hit the jackpot with her career success, unbearably gorgeous family, and flawless frame. But, there’s one thing she’s always struggled with (shocker, right?) and that was her skin. “I see a dermatologist in LA, called Dr. Harold Lancer, who is incredible. I’ve known him for years. He sorted my skin out,” she revealed to THE EDIT. Given that the 43-year-old former Spice Girl can totally pass for 29, we’d never guess that her now-porcelain skin was once an insecurity! “I don’t think you realize how important [a healthy lifestyle is] until you get older,” Victoria admitted. “You realize how vital it is to wear sunscreen; to drink lots of water; to cleanse, tone, moisturize; take vitamins; make sure you’re eating the right food.” So what are these miracle foods that combated the star’s below-par complexion? Check ‘em out below, and then heed our own skin-clearing advice by avoiding these 10 Foods That Double Your Risk Of Adult Acne.
She Eats This Every Single Day
“I used to have really problematic skin and [Dr. Lancer] said to me, ‘You have to eat salmon every single day.’ I said, ‘Really, every day?’ And he said, ‘Yes; breakfast, lunch or dinner, you have to eat it every single day,'” she shared with THE EDIT. It totally makes sense: wild salmon is brimming with skin-tightening dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) and anti-inflammatory omega-3s. "Since our bodies don't have the ability to produce the fatty acids, [eating them] helps reinforce your skin's barrier, and keeps moisture in and irritants out," explains Dr. Leslie Baumann, board-certified dermatologist and Founder of Baumann Cosmetic&Research Institute.
Avocados Are Her Friend
Ever notice how those Insta-famous beauty gurus just love smearing mashed up avocado on their faces? Well, it’s for good reason. The skin-hydrating monounsaturated fats in the green fruit help combat premature aging, which explains why Vic looks about half her age!
She Stocks Up On Nuts&Seeds
Noticing a trend? Beckham knows that healthy fats are her friend, not foe, which is exactly why she adds nuts and seeds to her diet. Chia seeds, freshly-ground flax seeds, and mixed nuts not only add protein and fiber to whatever you’re sprinkling them on, they also boast monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that keep the skin plump and hydrated. Talk about a tangible fountain of youth!
