Victoria Beckham offers customers a personal touch

NEW YORK (AP) — Victoria Beckham said she could talk about clothes all day long, and that's what she did Monday at New York Fashion Week.

Fresh from presenting her signature collection on the catwalk a day earlier, Beckham did back-to-back-to-back appointments to go through her contemporary line Victoria, Victoria Beckham. It's her preferred format to show off her designs.

"At the show, it's like you are standing in the street almost naked, and you don't know what's going to come. ... I enjoy the personal interaction and explaining the clothes," she said.

She said she also likes to meet with customers.

"I do a lot of in-store events, and this is the shape women want," Beckham said of a burnt-orange T-shirt dress.

She wore the most daring silhouette: a quilted, pouffy sky blue dress with a black grosgrain-ribbon hemline and crinoline underneath. It was an unexpected look for a woman who is typically photographed in clean, lean looks.

"There are two sides of my wardrobe, for both sides of my suitcase, one is collection and one is this," she said.

The palette here alternated between romantic sorbets and energized brights, she explained. There was one dress that incorporated 11 colors in a myriad of vertical pleats.

"This dress was technically hard to do," she said, seemingly proud of her accomplishment.

Toddler daughter Harper interrupted at that moment and asked if she could have one of the hot pink purses from the shelves of Beckham's temporary Meatpacking District showroom.

"She keeps stealing the show," a smiling Beckham said. "This is supposed to be about me."
