‘Devoted’ mother died after 150ft Snowdon fall while looking for TikTok infinity pool
A hiker died after falling 150ft from Snowdon’s Crib Goch after getting lost while searching for an infinity pool she had seen on TikTok.
Victoria Luck, 47, was with partner Matthew Radnor after he took her to Betws-y-Coed in Wales for an early Christmas present last December.
Ms Luck, who has two children, wanted to visit the spot near the Llanberis Pass after seeing it on video sharing app TikTok, but she and her partner lost their way while searching for it.
They decided to descend the mountain in different directions in an attempt to find their way down, with Mr Radnor taking a route which was easier for their dog, Louis, who had accompanied them on their trip, to walk down.
Mr Radnor said that Ms Luck climbed down into a gully and said she would carry on walking down that way.
But within a few minutes, Mr Radnor heard his partner – a keen walker – "yelp", but did not witness her fall.
During an inquest in Caernarfon, Mr Radnor said: "Louis was clever, I started shouting and he knew something was up, he was looking down the mountain with a concerned look on his face, he knew something was wrong.”
Mr Radnor alerted other walkers in the area that there had been an incident when he began shouting for help.
A coastguard rescue helicopter from Caernarfon and Llanberis mountain rescuers arrived at the scene and Ms Luck was put on board the aircraft but died from her injuries shortly before 3pm on 19 December.
Ms Luck, a special educational needs teacher from Wolverhampton, was “quite taken” with the infinity pool she had seen on TikTok and it became the reason for her trip with Mr Radnor.
Following her death, Ms Luck's father, Gordon Luck, said: "Vicky had a large circle of friends and was a mentor to others. She would always help others and her home was always open to those who needed her.
"She was a devoted mother and a talented caring person. She loved life, had a good sense of humour and was a caring daughter.
“She will be, and is, so very sadly missed by everyone.”
Assistant senior coroner for North West Wales, Sarah Riley, ruled that Ms Luck's death was down to “misadventure".
