Victorville man, 71, struck and killed on Palmdale Road near Crossroads of 395 shopping center

A 71-year-old man was struck and killed as he walked along Palmdale Road in Victorville, authorities said.

Larry Bell of Victorville was killed during a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision at Palmdale Road and Cantina Drive, Victorville Sheriff’s Station officials reported.

The location of the collision is just east of Highway 395 and near the Crossroads of 395 shopping center, area maps show.

At 7:56 pm Thursday, deputies along with American Medical Response and the Victorville Fire Department responded to the collision.

Upon arrival, first responders pronounced the pedestrian, later identified as Bell, dead. Deputies from the Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team responded and took over the investigation, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies learned that Bell was walking south across Palmdale Road and was struck by a vehicle traveling east on the same roadway. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, the sheriff’s report said.

All eastbound lanes of Palmdale Road between Cantina Drive and Cobalt Road were closed for several hours while deputies conducted the investigation. The investigation is still ongoing.
