A Victorville man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence when he crashed into a gas station, hit a bystander inside then fled the scene in San Bernardino.

The Central Sheriff’s Station reported that at approximately 10:08 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a shots fired call at the Chevron gas station on Wagon Train Road.

When deputies arrived, they learned that the driver of a 2021 Ford Explorer, later identified as Kevin Williams, 33, drove his vehicle into the front of the business, struck a juvenile standing inside, then drove away.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

As the suspect fled, an unidentified person fired gunshots at the vehicle and fled the scene before deputies arrived.

During an area check, deputies located the suspect and his vehicle on the northbound shoulder of Interstate 15.

At that time, Williams displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for felony hit and run, causing injury, and DUI.

Williams was booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, with bail set at $40,000. He was released on Sunday, booking records show.

Witnesses or anyone with any information about the collision is asked by the Sheriff’s Department to contact Deputy T. Mayberry at the Central Sheriff’s Station at 909-387-3545.
