Victorville woman killed in collision between car and big rig

A 44-year-old Victorville woman died in a two-vehicle collision with a big rig in Victorville on Tuesday night, authorities said.

The deadly wreck took place just after 11:20 p.m. at Nisqualli Road and 6th Avenue, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and coroner's officials.

"Deputies determined that a gray Honda Civic and a red Freightliner Cascadia were involved in the crash," the sheriff's department said in a written statement. "Despite life saving measures by first responders on scene, the driver of the gray Honda Civic succumbed to their injuries."

Esperanza Guerra died at the scene, coroner's records show.

Further details regarding circumstances of the collision were not available Wednesday morning.

Nisqualli Road was shut down for several hours late Tuesday and early Wednesday as a result of the crash and subsequent investigation.

A GoFundMe.com fundraiser was established Wednesday night to aid two sons Guerra left behind.

"Espie was known and loved by many as her smile, laughter and personality would brighten up any room," according to a statement accompanying the fundraiser.
