Video: Brooklyn fruit stand worker attacked by man with screwdriver

An attacker with a screwdriver stabbed a worker stocking a storefront fruit stand in Brooklyn in a brutal unprovoked assault caught on surveillance video.

The suspect came up behind the worker and jabbed him with a wild overhand motion just before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Lafayette Ave. near Fulton St. in Fort Greene, police said.

The 33-year-old victim told police that he did not speak with the assailant before the attacker. The worker suffered a puncture wound to the shoulder, but was not grievously injured, according to the NYPD.

The aggressor is seen on video wearing a raggedy brown shirt, black shorts and Crocs with black socks.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspect, last seen heading toward Fort Greene Park, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
