Life is far from back to normal for Ohioans who lives near the site of last week's Norkolk Southern train derailment and chemical burn.

Emily Wright describes what East Palestine area residents impacted by the disaster have experienced in the video above.

Her guest column about the disaster appeared on Dispatch.com. Feb. 14. In it, she asked Gov. Mike DeWine to seek federal help from the Biden administration to assist the area.

Thursday, the day Dispatch Opinion Editor Amelia Robinson spoke to Wright for the video, Dewine said he spoke with the White House about the situation in East Palestine.

"I spoke w/ the White House early this morning to address the need for federal help in East Palestine. As a result of this conversation, I have requested assistance from the U.S. Dept of Health/Human Services, Health & Emergency Response Team, & CDC to provide direct support," he said in a Tweet.

Wright is a resident of nearby Columbiana and is the development director at River Valley Organizing.
