VIDEO: Detroit man arrested after pointing gun at man carrying a baby

A Detroit man has been arrested after he was caught on video waving a gun and pointing it at a man carrying a baby inside a gas station.

The incident occurred Sunday evening at a Valero gas station when a man wearing a bucket hat, white shirt and tan shorts enters, pulls a handgun from his waistband and points it at a man carrying a 7-month-old baby.

The man holding the baby waves his free arm, possibly knocking the gun away. The man in the hat stumbles backward out the door as he tries to re-aim at the other man.

As the door closes, the man holding the baby rushes toward the back of the store away from the door and an obstructed window. The man in the hat then backpedals in the parking lot and looks at the gun before turning and leaving the gas station from the opposite direction as he entered.

Detroit police said the men had both walked to the gas station separately after an argument.

Police added that the man holding the baby may have caused the gun to jam when he hit it.

“Fortunately, the gun didn’t go off, it malfunctioned, and he was able to divert the gun and lock the door behind him,” said Detroit Police Department Commander Michael Chambers.

The man in the hat, who was not identified, was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
