Far-right Australian Senator Fraser Anning earned worldwide infamy in the wake of the mass shootings at New Zealand mosques after he pinned blame for the murders on Muslim immigrants. And now, video of a teenager egging the politician is going viral.

Anning, who’s long trafficked in Islamophobia, responded to Friday's massacre with a statement in which he insisted that while "left-wing politicians and the media will rush to claim that the causes of today’s shooting lie with gun laws or those who hold nationalist views," the "real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place."

"The truth is that Islam is not like any other faith. It is the religious equivalent of fascism," Anning concluded. "And just because the followers of this savage belief were not the killers in this instance, does not make them blameless."

Anning was speaking to the press Saturday when the 17-year-old, who’s since identified himself online as Will Connolly, cracked an egg against the back of the senator’s head. Anning responded by striking the boy twice in the face, before his supporters wrestled Connolly to the ground.

Though it seems that no one was seriously injured, the teen the internet quickly dubbed “Egg Boy” sustained multiple blows to the head and was put in a chokehold.

Connolly’s egg attack instantly went viral, with people around the world flooding social media with praise for Egg Boy.

The teen was even offered a lifetime of free tickets to a popular music festival.

Though he was taken in by local police, Australian journalists report that Connolly was released without charges. And he took to Twitter to set the record straight.
