Video: ‘LEGO’ redesign for mobile Google Search in the works
Google is apparently working on a Google Search redesign for mobile devices known as “LEGO,” although it’s not clear whether it will be rolled out or when it’ll be available to users. Android Police reports that LEGO’s main feature seems to be the inclusion of animations in the search results that would thoroughly improve the search experience, allowing users to interact with certain results.
Google is apparently experimenting with smooth animations and with interactive knowledge graph cards that will let the user swipe through any listed images. Users interested in trying out the new interface can do so by performing searches on smartphones and tablets in a web browser following this link (in case it’s still available).
The LEGO project has been mentioned in the Chromium project data as well, which means some Googlers are using it. Even if the company won’t actually bring LEGO features to mobile web search, it’s certainly clear that Google wants to further improve search experience on mobile devices, since search and ads on mobile devices will keep bringing in huge chunks of cash each quarter.
