TAMPA (WFLA) — A manatee rescued after being tangled in a fishing lure has been released back into the waters after a nearly year-long rehabilitation.
According to the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex, the manatee named Allure (get it?) was released alongside another rehab resident named Adobe, a rescued orphan manatee.
Allure was rescued around February 2023, when she was found with the fishing lure in her lip and flipper.
The complex worked with SeaWorld, ZooTampa, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), and Clearwater Marine Aquarium during the rescue and rehabilitation.
