This video of Melania refusing to hold Donald Trump's hand is painfully awkward

We've got no idea what goes on inside Donald and Melania Trump's relationship, but what we do know is that yet another video of the First Lady refusing to hold her husband's hand has emerged. And it must be like, what, the 147283th video of its kind?! Just saying.

As the First couple stepped off Air Force One this weekend, footage shows Melania holding her bag in her left hand while walking down the steps of the plane. Trump, meanwhile, goes to grab for her hand (despite the fact it's occupied with a bag), but to no avail.

Not deterred by the initial rejection - or by the fact that Melania already had to content with walking down the stairs in heels and the wind blowing her skirt around - the President can be seen in the video going in for yet another hand grab, which his wife continues to plainly ignore. To say it's awkward would be a fairly hefty understatement.

And it didn't go unnoticed on social media. "Her body language says it all," wrote one person. "She definitely did not want to hold his hand," added another, with a series of crying laughing emojis.

Others on Twitter disputed the fact that Melania Trump was rejecting her husband's affectionate advances, however, pointing out that she was just focussing on keeping her dress where it should have been. "She was clearly worried her dress would get caught in the wind and was holding it down," someone posted.

And to be fair, in a later photograph it's clear Donald Trump did get to hold Melania's hand in the end. The couple are pictured hand-in-hand as they walk from the plane along with their 14-year-old son, Barron. (Side note: Barron has got TALL in the last four years!)

Of course, it's not the first time Donald and Melania have been filmed during similar awkward interactions. In one video from 2017, the President goes to hold her hand as they step off a plane in Rome, only to be ignored so he grabs her butt instead.

Then there was this moment in 2018, when the couple was standing side-by-side to welcome French president Emmanuel Macron to the White House. Trump was angling for Melania's hand, and - surprise, surprise! - she avoided it at all costs. Watch if you think you can handle the cringe.

Right, let's stop watching these videos now before the awkwardness gets too much.
