Video: Naples Beach Club construction site partially submerged after Hurricane Idalia

Construction also took a hit from Hurricane Idalia, which temporarily stopped work Tuesday as the storm raged along the Southwest Florida coast.

Naples Beach Club construction halted as some cranes and other heavy equipment was partially submerged after Idalia's storm surge Tuesday.

Wednesday morning, Jonah Hinebaugh ― a Naples Daily News visual journalist ― filmed the beach club construction site that revealed the hurricane's aftermath.

The development is replacing the former Naples Beach Hotel, operated by the Watkins family for more than 70 years.

The city approved the redevelopment plans in 2019 and partnership with Four Seasons didn't come together until 2021.

Besides a Four Seasons resort, Market Square and conference center the new Naples Beach Club will include up to 147 "best-in-class" condos on both sides of Gulf Shore Boulevard.
