This ‘Trendy’ New Hair Cut’s Gone Viral, Because It’s Not At All Trendy

Everyone has a tale of a hairdressing woe, exiting the salon in floods of tears when your stylist has got a little too snip happy, or gone overboard on the highlights. But dodgy haircuts have nothing on the, er, individual style showcased in a new internet video that’s fast going viral.

The video was shared by BarberShapp, an app that ‘connects barbers to busy customers’

“Quirky, Stylish and Smooth? Is this a new trend in the making?” BarberShapp teased on Facebook before showing a woman getting choppy, angular uneven layers cut into the top of her hair, leaving a messy mullet at the bottom. Nice!

Let’s just say that the 51,674 commentators on the post weren’t hot footing it to their local salon to recreate the look.

“Poor girl, this is awful, it’s not like she can even really turn it into a pixie cut or anything later, her hair was pretty before, now it just looks like a kid took scissors to it!” One sympathetic commentator wrote.

“Wow! I’ve worn some edgy cuts myself but this is ugly period and the look on her face tells me she absolutely hates it [sic].” Wrote another.

While one seemed to capture the thoughts of the majority: “I think I can safely speak on behalf of the nation by saying that this is most definitely NOT going to be a trend. I have no Other words [sic].”

Currently there is no explanation as to whether this was a real ‘do’ or just a clever publicity stunt. If it’s the latter it seems to be working as it has already had over 92,000 shares and 11 million views.

Think we’ll stick with our lob thanks.
