New video shows benefits of living, working, visiting Licking County as Intel looms

Explore Licking County, the Licking County Chamber of Commerce and Grow Licking County collaborated to create a new promotional video to entice economic growth, residents, and visitors to the county.

The video can be viewed at welcomeintel.com, a website collaboration of the chamber, Grow Licking County and the Newark-Heath-Licking County Port Authority that provides a Licking County-focused approach to Intel in the areas of communications, workforce and community connections.

With the assistance of Reece Thompson, owner of Flicker-Lit Productions, a 2-minute video was created that provides a colorful overview of the county’s educational, business, residential, workforce and recreational opportunities.

Explore Licking County Executive Director Dan Moder said the organizations have different missions, but it became clear that sharing resources to present a united approach to Intel's move would produce the best results.

“What became apparent from the onset was that this project, although a reaction to Intel, could lay nicely over all three of our specific discipline areas,” Moder said. “It became more of a relocation vehicle that would cover the work here, live here, and play here bases comprehensively."

Licking County Chamber President Jennifer McDonald said the county has already seen significant economic growth in the last decade, and that pace will only increase.’

“We want to welcome new businesses, residents and visitors alike, all while assisting the chamber's 900-plus member businesses, to build a pipeline of talent and a future that continues to transform our community,” McDonald said.

Grow Licking County Executive Director Alexis Fitzsimmons said the county has plenty of opportunities and resources available to provide a great quality of life.

“This collaborative video not only allows us to share the Licking County story with new businesses and visitors, but it also encourages our existing residents and stakeholders to continue being ambassadors of our exceptional community,” Fitzsimmons said.

The video begins by showing a housing subdivision, manufacturing employees on the job and a people enjoying nature on a walk. The narrator states that the house becomes a home, the job becomes a career, and the nature trip becomes an adventure in Licking County.

The narrator continues, “Choosing a place to live or work or visit means choosing a landscape for future possibilities. You can follow the path that works for you to start a career you’ll love or build a business of your very own. And this landscape is a place you can grow.”

The video shows the Licking County Courthouse, bike paths, tennis courts, schools, Dankhouse Brewery, farmland, a family picnic, downtown Granville, Buckeye Lake, the 1922 on the Square restaurant in Newark, the Bryn Du Mansion in Granville and Blackhand Gorge.

The video describes an area that is “close to family, to friends, to the people and places that inspire you so that you can inspire them (showing children in an art class).”

In the closing of the video, it states, “When you need to get away, an adventure awaits in your own back yard. There’s room for everyone. In Licking County, you don’t have to travel far to travel far.”
