Video shows Florida hit-and-run victim clinging desperately to car hood for 2 miles

If you are involved in an accident, it is never a good idea to take off. It is even less of a good idea to take off with the other driver clinging desperately to the hood of your car.

On Saturday afternoon, that's what Palm Coast residents saw zipping past them on Belle Terre Parkway at reported speeds up to 50 mph, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The person on the hood told deputies that they had been involved in a minor vehicle crash near Palm Coast Parkway & Belle Terre Parkway at around 2 p.m. with Cheryl Henderson, 76, of Palm Coast, and they used their vehicle to block Henderson from leaving, according to Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly's weekend roundup.

"When the victim stepped out of their car, Henderson allegedly sped up, and the victim was forced to jump onto Henderson’s hood to avoid being run over," the report said. "Henderson then sped away with the victim hanging onto the hood of her car."

Henderson was forced off the road by a witness to the accident about two miles away. She was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and battery of a person over 65 and released on $20,000 bond, according to the release and inmate records.

Henderson, who was wearing a "Think Positive, Be Positive" shirt, told deputies she didn't stop because she was out of gas, according to WKMG Channel 6.
