Video topic of Westwood school board public comments

Jan. 8—An employee's private video that has been circulating through the school was a topic of concern during the Public Comments portion of the Westwood Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting Monday, Jan. 8.

During the Public Comments section of the meeting, two Westwood residents voiced their concerns about an employee's private video that was circulating through the high school before the Christmas holidays, both concerned the video had not been addressed by the school. Mendi Perry, one of the two individuals who addressed the board, referred to the situation as an "embarrassment" to the district and the community.

During the final agenda item, when board members are asked for their suggestion for future agenda items, five board members acknowledge they would like to address the video in the board's next meeting.

During the meeting, the board also approved:

—the consent agenda,

—Jackson Construction as construction manager at risk for the administration building, maintenance and transportation building and spring sports complex projects,

—the appointment of Angela Choates as its' representative for the Anderson County Appraisal District,

—Mindy Cretsinger as the District 5 Board Member replacing Ronnie Stanhope,

—and Saturday, May 4 as the date for the 2024 WISD Board of Trustee elections for Districts 1, 4 and 5.
