Traffic moves slowly along Route 490 East in Rochester Friday, Dec. 23, 2022 as a powerful winter storm front blows into the area bringing frigid temperatures, high winds and lake effect snow.

The storm pummeling parts of western New York has had it all: whiteouts, flooding, strong winds, bitter cold and power outages.

“It is throwing everything at us but the kitchen sink. We’ve had ice, flooding, snow, freezing temperatures, and everything that Mother Nature could wallop at us this weekend,” said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul during a press briefing Friday.
