Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica stops in Belvidere

BELVIDERE — A 53-foot trailer carrying the Wall That Heals exhibit, a Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica wall and mobile education center, stopped in Belvidere this week.

The Wall That Heals features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.

The wall was set-up Wednesday night at the Boone County Fairground and opened to the public Thursday morning. Six Vietnam soldiers from Boone County who made the ultimate sacrifice were honored during an opening ceremony Thursday night.

An honor ceremony where "quilts of valor" will be presented to area veterans is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.

The exhibit is free to check out and is open 24-hours. The display will be up until 2 p.m. Sunday.
