Vietnamese-speaking employees are needed in North Texas. Here are some places to apply

When organizations look for employees or translators in North Texas who speak English and Vietnamese, many come to Tom Ha’s office to see if he can refer people.

But Ha, a community leader and insurance agent in Haltom City, said there are not enough people who speak English and Vietnamese to serve the growing Vietnamese community in Fort Worth, Arlington and Dallas.

He said he even needs bilingual employees in his insurance office.

“I haven’t been able to locate them at all,” he said. “I need three people right now.”

In 2021, Tarrant County was home to more than 35,000 Vietnamese-American residents, according to Census data.

Arlington alone had nearly 14,000 Vietnamese-American residents in 2021, one of the largest Vietnamese populations in the U.S., according to the Census Bureau.

Garland, a city in northeast Dallas County, also topped the list of large Vietnamese populations, with more than 14,000 residents in 2021.

Altogether, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex had the fourth largest Vietnamese-American population among metropolitan areas in the country.
