Summer expo and fair season is just around the corner and a big one is coming to Iowa in June.

World Pork Expo is set for June 8-10 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. This is the world’s largest pork industry-specific trade show bringing together pork producers and industry professionals from all around the world for three days of innovation, education and networking.

Thousands of pork producers and industry professionals attend the expo each year as there is something for everyone such as the expansive trade show, educational seminars and industry updates. Delicious pork is even served across the fairgrounds.

Since 1988, World Pork Expo has been presented by the National Pork Producers Council. This is one of several ways NPPC shows its commitment to the U.S. pork industry. NPPC works to develop and defend export markets, helps protect a farmer’s livelihood and fights for reasonable legislation and regulation.

Over 40 affiliated state associations make up NPPC, which is considered the global voice for the industry, enhancing opportunities for the success of pork producers and other industry stakeholders.

In March, NPPC installed new officers and elected members to its board of directors during the National Pork Industry Forum. Terry Wolters of Pipestone, Minnesota, was named president for 2022-23. Wolters owns Stoney Creek Farms, which consists of several sow farms and is a partner in the Pipestone System. He is also a member of Wholestone Farms, active with the Pipestone County Pork Producers Association, Minnesota Pork Producers Association, South Dakota Pork Producers Council and the Minnesota Farm Bureau.

World Pork Expo is made possible by the support of 11 gold sponsors and 24 silver sponsors and 400 companies from North America and around the world will be on-site. Products and services will be displayed at booths along with outdoor exhibits and hospitality tents. Over 10,000 people attend every year with exhibit space exceeding 300,000 square feet.

Those attending can participate in five business seminars June 8 and 9 in the Varied Industries Building on the fairgrounds. There will be five pork academy seminars where pork producers and their employees can learn about nutrition management, understanding consumers, data collection and more. Plus, more than 100 golfers will participate in the World Pork Open at the Legacy Golf Club in Norwalk, Iowa, June 7.

Registration information for attendees, media, exhibitor personnel and booth space can be found at www.worldpork.org/register.
