Like the 4-series and 7-series, the latest BMW 5-series has an electric spinoff. It's called the 2024 BMW i5, and it will come in two versions, a rear-drive eDrive40 and an all-wheel-drive M60 xDrive. There will be gas versions of the luxury sedan as well, called 530i and 540i.
The i5 eDrive40 is pictured on the left, and the M60 xDrive is on the right.
The eDrive40 has a single rear-mounted electric motor with 335 horsepower.
It starts at $67,795.
BMW claims that its EPA range could be somewhere around 300 miles, but it's not official yet.
The i5 has the same body as the gas-powered 5-series.
The battery pack measures 84.3 kWh.
The M60 xDrive has a dual-motor setup with a whopping 590 horsepower.
This makes it the most powerful version of the new 5-series, at least until the next M5 arrives.
Predictably enough, the M60 is more expensive and starts at $85,095.
