The View host Sunny Hostin has responded to the online critics who have labeled her racist. On Monday’s episode of the show, she defended her decision to “call it like I see it” during the panel discussion about reparations.

Referring to Senator Tommy Tuberville's remarks at a Trump rally over the weekend, in which he criticized reparations and claimed Democrats “think the people who do crime are owed that,” the entire panel agreed that his rant was racist.

As reported by Decider, Ana Navarro said, “We all know what racism looks like, smells like, and sounds like. And this was racism.”

Hostin said, “the minute you start talking about reparations, people call you a racist,” adding, “I’ve always said, ‘Please, people need to start looking up what the definition of racism is.'”

She continued:

“It’s really a power dynamic. It’s not just about the color of your skin. I think when you talk about those who committed crimes that owe reparations, those are the people that committed the atrocities of slavery, who stole land, who killed Indigenous people. Today is Indigenous Peoples Day. Yeah, those reparations are still owed.”

Hostin ended her rebuttal to critics  by saying that people will call you racist “because you call out racism.”

She noted that it’s “something I get to experience every single day on social media. I am somehow a race-baiter and a racist because I call it like I see it. And I think it’s being used as a political wedge issue now. Everything is racist especially if you call it out.”

While the topic of reparations was being raised, Hostin made headlines a few weeks ago after asserting that Nikki Haley had "whitewashed" her name.

Along with program viewers who were enraged by her remarks about Navarro being a “Latina lady” in the Republican party, the former governor of South Carolina responded to Hostin’s remarks against her for being “racist.”
