UPDATE: The View made the official announcement that Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin would be joining the show as permanent co-hosts.

Farah Griffin will fill the conservative seat on the Hot Topics table, while Navarro, who has been a contributor since 2015 and guest co-host since 2018, will become permanent co-host. Navarro will continue to commute from Coral Gables, FL. With the additions, The View panel will not consist of six seats.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg called the announcement of Navarro as a co-host “long overdue.”

Navarro called it a “huge, enormous” privilege to be “part of a 25 year institution,” and “whether people like it or not, whether some people acknowledge it or not, it is the relevance and the importance and the platform that The View represents.”

She talked of emigrating from Nicaragua as a political refugee when she was 8 years old, and said that when someone with that background “gets the opportunity and the chance to have a platform, you grab it with both hands and you run with it.”

Farah Griffin said, “If anyone would have told me that I would be sitting at a table with Whoopi Goldberg, I would have said you are crazy. It is such an honor to be with you ladies every day on the set.”

She said, “I will say this, the last couple of years have been a bit turbulent for me. … I worked for an administration that I ended speaking out against fervently, and continue to daily. That changes a lot in your life. I lost a lot of friends. I am estranged from family members. But I have to say this. I am so proud to have found my voice. I was a president’s spokesperson. I was a vice president’s spokesperson. I was way to many members of congress spokespersons, but now it is my voice and I’m here to just join this table, hopefully bring a different perspective.”

Farah Griffin has made 25 appearances on the show in the past season. She will continue to serve as a political commentator at CNN.

Executive producer Brian Teta told ABC News that “we promised to take a little time to fill the seat and we have found the right match and a welcome addition to the show with Alyssa. She is willing to share her unique political experience and brings a strong conservative perspective while holding her own in tough debates with her co-hosts and guests on both sides of the aisle.”

Navarro, Teta said, “is a strong independent thinker with savvy insight, not to mention that she is whip-smart and fiercely funny. We are very happy to officially welcome her as a co-host.”

PREVIOUSLY: Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin will be named permanent co-hosts of The View, with an announcement expected on the show on Thursday.

They will join Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines on the show as it enters its 26th season, according to a source familiar with the plans.

Navarro and Griffin are both Republicans, albeit Navarro long has been an anti-Donald Trump voice in her appearances on the show. Farah Griffin served as Trump’s strategic communications director until her resignation in December, 2020. She later condemned the January 6th attack on the Capitol and Trump’s role in spreading misinformation about the presidential election.

The show had been widely expected to name new co-hosts from the right since the departure of Meghan McCain last year. Navarro and Farah Griffin have been among those who have filled the show’s fifth slot since then.
