Viewings scheduled Monday, funeral Tuesday for Corry native Rougeau, who died in line of duty

The Pennsylvania State Police have announced funeral arrangements for Corry native Jacques "Jay" F. Rougeau Jr., a Pennsylvania State Police trooper who was fatally shot while on duty Saturday.

A public viewing is scheduled for two sessions Monday, from noon to 3 p.m., and again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Bayfront Convention Center, located at 1 Sassafras Pier in Erie.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the same location.

The Pennsylvania State Police said the Commonwealth Media Services will be providing a livestream and a satellite feed of Tuesday's services. Details of the live feeds will be released to the media Monday.

Shootout: Pennsylvania state trooper who is Corry native killed in shootout; 2nd trooper wounded

Rougeau, 29, was assigned with Troop G at the Lewistown Station when he was killed Saturday during a shootout in central Pennsylvania. He is the 104th member of the state police to be killed in the line of duty.

Another state trooper, Lt. James Wagner, was wounded in a separate encounter with the same shooter in Juniata County. The suspect, Brandon Stine, 38, was killed in an exchange of gunfire after the shootings, according to state police.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St. in Corry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the PSTA Survivor Fund, 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
