Your views: The show did go on

One of the great pleasures among many Stocktonians are the concerts at Victory Park on Wednesday evenings. On July 13, the entertainment was provided by Gary Bohannon and the Bad Habits — a very good band that performs around Stockton and Northern California.

During the first set, Gary had a medical emergency and was unable to complete the show himself. There was a call to the audience for anyone in the medical field for assistance before the firefighters and EMT’s could arrive, and several individuals came to the stage to help out.

The band decided to continue the concert with Gary’s blessing, and a few singers who were in attendance at the park filled in and helped finish the set for the crowd at the park.

Thanks to the medical volunteers and to the singers for stepping up to help Gary and his band. Stockton has some very good people.

Fear in the nation’s capital?

I don't like to sound like one of those whack-job conspiracy theorists, but something smells rotten in our nation's capital. A congressional committee has been holding a series of hearings into the Jan. 6 incident.

They hired a former network TV executive to produce these “shows.” All three major broadcast networks, and all but one cable news channel, carry these extravaganzas live. They are fast running and slick, not unlike many of the “reality” TV shows.

But do they really warrant this kind of coverage? The committee is made up entirely of Democrats, except for two “so-called” Republicans… Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. (Quick Side Note: Liz & Adam, have those resumes up to date for after the midterm elections.)

Could the Democrats, in collusion with the broadcast and cable channels, be aggressively conspiring to keep Donald Trump from running in the next presidential election? I sense fear.

A final note on the makeup of the committee. Sen. Joe McCarthy and Grand Inquisitor Torquemada sent their regrets for being unable to serve. Their presence would have been most appropriate. They both have extensive experience in this kind of fact finding. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, they are both, technically, dead.

Be sure to vote in November.
