The Vig is leaving uptown Phoenix on Dec. 19, but it won't be gone for too long.

A spokesperson confirmed the The Vig will move into a new location in central Phoenix, slated to open sometime in 2022. The trendy restaurant, marketed as an "upscale neighborhood tavern," has five locations throughout Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Genuine Concepts, the company that owns The Vig along with bars The Womack and Little Woody, is turning the uptown location into a new flagship restaurant called The Genuine.

The mid-century modern building, formerly an Arizona Bank, was built in the 1960s and designed by famed Phoenix architect Ralph Haver. Inside, the former bank vault was turned into a restaurant bar. The Genuine will feature a semi-open kitchen built around a custom Forno Bravo wood-burning oven.

The Genuine will debut a menu focused on wood-fired dishes for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch under the direction of chef Jeremy Pacheco. Expect Portuguese prawns, Chilean sea bass, octopus, steak, chicken and pizza, as well as charcuterie.

The restaurant will feature a smaller core menu than The Vig and will showcase Arizona producers, such as Sonoran Pasta Co., McClendon's Select, Queen Creek Olive Mill and Crow's Dairy. They will also offer a rotating menu of weekly specials.

Cocktails, local beers and wines, including selections options from Huss Brewing Co. and Pillsbury Wine Company, will be available.

The Genuine is scheduled to open in February 2022.
