Vigil for Drivers Who Died During Pandemic Held Outside Uber Headquarters in San Francisco

An advocacy group gathered outside Uber’s headquarters in San Fransisco on the evening of Tuesday, December 22, honoring drivers around across world who had lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This footage posted to Twitter shows several cars parked outside the Uber offices, including a truck carrying an LED screen that lists the names of drivers who have died.

We Drive Progress told Storyful the demonstration was “part of an international day of action calling attention to the health and safety issues app workers face everywhere, and especially during COVID-19.”

A small memorial was also created where the names of deceased drivers and gig workers were placed in a frame next to flowers and candles. Credit: @wedriveprogress via Storyful
