Vigor boys punch ticket to Final Four, Johnson named South Regional MVP

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Vigor boys will be Birmingham bound next week for the final four. The Wolfpack defeated Charles Henderson 63-48 to advance in the Class 5A tournament.

Terrell Johnson and Aslan Jones led the way for Vigor with 13 points a piece on their way to all-tournament team honors. Johnson was named the South Regional MVP — the senior combined for 39 points and 17 rebounds in the Wolfpack’s two regional tournament wins.

Vigor jumped out to a 21-9 lead over Charles Henderson in the first quarter, but the Trojans fought back to cut the deficit to one at halftime.

The Wolfpack buckled down on defense coming out of the locker room to hold the Trojans to just 7 points in the third quarter. Vigor never trailed in the game.

Vigor advances to play Guntersville next Wednesday, February 28th, tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
