Vikes declaw Wildcats in 3

Sep. 14—MONTGOMERY — The Jasper Wildcats (9-7) have long been a quality volleyball program and use to getting wins on the road, but Tuesday night they traveled to Barr-Reeve and went home the same way so many others have during the Amber DeCoursey era — with a loss.

The straight-set win moved B-R to 18-1 and showed just how good B-R can be, even against a school four times its size.

"This was a quality win over a very opponent. We are getting close to the post season and we have to do a better job of putting balls away and I fell like we did that tonight," said B-R coach Amber DeCoursey. "Jasper likes to hit into the corners and we had Colleen (Trambaugh deep to night and she was able to run everything down."

The Vikes opened with a quick 3-0 lead and a kill from Dylan DeCoursey made it 6-2. Hannah Swartzentruber pushed it to 8-3, but Jasper survived a long rally to cut it to 9-5. After some athletic play at the net from DeCoursey, Addi Jones banged in a kill to make it 14-8. With Alli Robinson serving, B-R pushed it it 18-12 and DeCoursy's kill made it 19-15. Jasper rallied back to 20-18. A great dig from Colleen Trambaugh led to the 23rd point as B-R took Game 1, 25-22.

Hannah Bledsoe tied Game 2 with a kill to make it 1-1 and DeCoursey made it 3-2. A Robinson ace made it 6-3 and a block kill from Karter Burris and Swartzentruber made it 9-5. Bledsoe added three points at the net and the Vikes went up13-9. At 15-9 Jasper took a timeout and crawled back to 15-17. With Willow Thompson serving, DeCoursey picked up B-R's 21st point, whilesoe's kill ended it at 25-20.

In game 3, B-R went up 3-2 but Jasper tied it at 3-all and 5-all. Bledsoe's kill made it 8-7 and Deoursey's kill from the right side pushed it to 11-8. B-R extended it to 14-11 and then 15-12. Swartzentruber added a kill to make it 18-13. Jasper pulled with in two, but but a kill from Bledsoe made it 24-20 before B-R won 25-21.

DeCoursey had 16 kills, Jones and Bledsoe had 11 each. Trambaugh added 20 digs and Emma Wagler had 26 assists.

In the JV game, B-R won quickly 25-13, and 25-17.
