Vikings CB Mike Hughes: Packers game was an ‘eye-opener for us’

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers found his receivers with ease in Green Bay’s victory over the Vikings. He finished with 364 passing yards and four touchdown passes, en route to a 43-34 win.

Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes thinks his team can play better than that. He talked about the defeat with reporters recently. Here’s what he said:

“That was probably an eye-opener for us,” Hughes said, via Vikings.com. “All the captains and all the vets, you know everybody agreed that we can play better, and we’re still confident that this team can be really good. We moved on from last week, and we watched the film and corrected the mistakes. We’re ready to go this week.”

Hughes wasn’t a mainstay starter last season, but he played quite often. Now, he’s one of the more solidified cornerbacks on this new-look Vikings defense. Minnesota needs him and Holton Hill to play well in bigger roles, as the other, more inexperienced players get acclimated to the NFL.
