The Vikings will play their earliest game in a season on Monday Night Football since they defeated New Orleans at home 29-19 in their 2017 opener. Minnesota has played the Eagles twice before on a Monday night, losing 32-24 on the road in 1990 and 27-16 on the road in 2004.

The Vikings lost at Philadelphia 38-7 in the 2017 NFC Championship Game. Since then, they have beaten the Eagles 23-21 on the road in 2018 and 38-20 at home in 2019.

The game presents a contrast in quarterbacks. Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins likes to stay in the pocket, and he threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-7 win over Green Bay in Week 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts uses his legs well, and threw for 243 yards and ran for 90 in a 38-35 win at Detroit in Week 1.

On offense, the Vikings as usual will go to wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who caught nine passes for a career-high 184 yards against the Packers, and running back Dalvin Cook, who had 90 yards on 20 carries in Week 1. Philadelphia’s defense struggled on the ground in Week 1, giving up 181 yards. But the Eagles allowed just 205 net passing yards.
