Vikings are still going 3 and out too often

The Minnesota Vikings led the NFL in the 2021 season with 58 three-and-outs. It was an issue for many reasons but especially helped cripple a defense that was already struggling.

The Vikings allowed the most points in the final two minutes of either half last season and some of that was due to the lack of offensive execution. Fixing that was a point of emphasis this season and so far, the offense is still going three-and-out at too high of a rate.

The Vikings are currently eighth in the NFL in going three-and-out, doing so on 28% of their drives.

That number comes out to nine possession out of a total of 33. At that rate, the Vikings will go three-and-out a whopping 51 times which is only slightly better than last year. With the offense still growing within the system and figuring things out, this stat is bound to only get better.
