The Vikings are in a playoff window, with veterans on short-term deals ready to contribute.

However, Minnesota will still have to rely on rookies in key roles. From Christian Darrisaw to Ihmir Smith-Marsette, the Vikings have plenty of breakout candidates who are entering their first NFL season.

Vikings Wire recently conducted a poll that asked fans who Minnesota’s top rookie would be this season? The results were unsurprising: Darrisaw won the popular vote.

Darrisaw took over 45% of the vote at the time this article was published. Wyatt Davis was a distant second with 16.77% of the votes. Smith-Marsette rounded out the top three with 13.77% of the voting.

With the way the Vikings roster is structured for 2021, the team almost needs the breakout rookie to be Darrisaw, Davis or Smith-Marsette. If none of those three perform well, the team could be looking at another season without a playoff berth. That could spell trouble for the coaching staff and front office.
