WAYLAND, MA — A staff member at The Villa restaurant in Wayland recently tested positive for coronavirus, forcing a nearly week-long closure of the business, health officials said Thursday afternoon.

This is at leas the third Wayland restaurant closure since late December. The Dudley Chateau shut down temporarily in December, and Mel's Commonwealth Café did so on Jan. 6. The Villa is located next door to Mel's in a shopping plaza near Route 30 and East Plain Street.

"The owner has temporarily closed the restaurant and is completing a deep cleaning as per CDC guidelines and protocols," Wayland officials said in a statement. "The Health Department is actively conducting a contact tracing investigation and the restaurant is providing full cooperation as well as working together on the reopening plans."

The Villa will likely reopen by Jan. 26, according to the town.

Anyone who visited The Villa on either Jan. 16 or Jan. 17 should quarantine and get a coronavirus test, health officials advised.
