Vineland police officer fatally shoots man at Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park

VINELAND - The state Attorney General's Office is investigating a fatal shooting by a Vineland police officer at a mobile home park here.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 a.m.Saturday at the Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park off South Lincoln Avenue, according to the state Attorney General's Office.

A Vineland police officer fired his service weapon during a predawn confrontation, fatally wounding the man, said the law enforcement agency.

"Three Vineland police officers sustained minor injuries during the incident,. They were treated and released," it said in a statement.

Police officers and emergency medical personnel provided first aid to the shooting victim, but he was pronounced dead the scene around 5:48 a.m., the agency said.

It identified the victim only as a "male civilian."

"The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time," it said.

A representative of the 92-home park could not be reached for comment Sunday. The complex Announcements is restricted to residents 55 or older, according to a sign at the property.

The Attorney General's Office noted a state law requires it to investigate any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in an official capacity or while a person is in custody.
