Recovery is just as important as the workout itself. Whether it's something simple as light stretching or techniques more advanced, think of taking those extra minutes before and after a workout to heal as a favor to your body the next time you lace up running sneakers or return from yoga.

With the influx of recovery gadgets on the market as of late, it can be difficult to decide which product is ideal for you, especially since you're investing in something that's expected to last for years to come. Rather than playing the guessing game, we asked an expert. Vinh Pham is a physical therapist and co-founder of Myodetox. Pham is also a Hyperice Performance Advisor, helping the wellness brand provide expertise, education and self-care solutions for novice and professional athletes alike.

"Pre- and post-workout recovery allows you to optimize your movement capacity and minimize your risk of injury before performing your activity of choice," Pham told Yahoo Sports.

The Toronto native also suggested that dynamic stretching and using Hyperice tools for 5-10 minutes to increase blood flow, maximize range of movement, and minimize risk of injury should be a part of every pre-workout regimen.

Following a workout, static stretches and Hyperice tools can be used for 5-10 minutes in an effort to reduce delayed onset muscle soreness and post-activity stiffness.

As far products to purchase to help with said rehabilitation, Pham says it depends on whether you prefer a more active or passive approach to recovery. The first device he suggested was the Hypervolt Pro 2, because it "provides a lot of different angles from which you can access your limbs." On sale for $349 (originally $399), it features three hours of battery life, five head attachments and a storage pouch.

If you want to access more regions and incorporate movement, Pham recommends the Hypersphere. The small, but might ball ($84) has three vibration settings and a powerful motor. The textured rubber exterior provides grip and allows for more localized therapy.

Of course all Hyperice products serve a purpose, but Pham identified a few he keeps on rotation following his own training.

"It varies between the Hypervolt 2 Pro, Hypersphere, and Normatec Pulse 2.0 Legs, ($799)" he revealed. "The Hypervolt 2 Pro allows percussion based recovery while I'm chillin' watching Netflix, and provides relief to my hips after kickin' a bag. At the same time, I know I can access my glutes and midback better using something like the Hypersphere. The variety allows me to use as I see fit for my needs."

The aforementioned products are on sale for a limited time, perfect for you and your fellow recovery fanatic.
