The Manatee County Clerk of Court & Comptroller’s Teen Court-Teen Court Too celebrated its newest class of teen attorneys at its recent Attorney Training program.

Among these future barristers are Neila Alejo, Edwin Arroyo-Valencia, Grant Bettle, Yavitzy Cabrera Garcia, Ashley Carranza, Jasmin Castellanos-Villalobos, Chloe Chang, Moira Corbett, Mia Dixon, Drew Gerber, Addyson Haygood, Carson Haygood, Robert LaFleur, Arely Larios, Annette Logan, Alayna Murray, Allyra Murray, William Naylor, Davan Nguyen, Mariangeles Ortiz-Ortiz, Gladys Palma, Maya Radawski, Stephanie Salto-Calderon, Brooklyn Simmons, Andy Vazquez, Jr. and Paulina Whyte.

· World-traveling waitress Brittany Wilson is 33.

· ABC7 news anchor Rebecca Vargas and Braden River High head football coach Curt Bradley, who already have a son, Luca, named their new bundle of love, Olivia.

· Carol LaClair is 39. Again.

· Well done to Southeast High’s speech team. Savannah Anderson and Chloe Billaut placed first and Shaliana Bravo was third in Congressional Debate in their recent competition at Pineview. Billaut also received best presiding officer in her chamber.

· Big ups to the Lakewood Ranch High boys golf team.

The Mustangs were ranked No. 1 in the state after winning the Venice Invitational, but slipped to No. 5 after Coach Dave Frantz rested his Green team, the tournament starters, in the next meet and played his Silver team, instead. Then the Ranch turned around and beat out a field of 24 teams in a tournament at Lakeland, finishing 6 under par with 17 birdies and two eagles as a team.

The Mustang boys are Max Bendixen, Henry Burbee, Ryan Giampietro, Grant Miller, Joshua Orgen, Nicolas Penker, Donovan Plakyda, Parker Severs, Brett Traver and Luke Wilson.

· Well done to Bayshore High’s Journalism team, recipients of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society’s International second-place award. The team includes executive editor Meah Hird, managing editor Autumn Faasse, sports editor Olivia Gasiewski, reporter Annabella Stevens, designer Gabby Rapuzzi and photographer Eduardo Cavero.

· Mike Bennett, Manatee County’s Supervisor of Elections, reminds voters who have voted by mail that they will receive notice they will need to make a new request to receive mail ballots in 2024.

Voters can request a vote-by-mail ballot by visiting votemanatee.gov/VBM. Or they can call 941-741-3823 and press 1.

Those who have provided their email address in the past will receive an official email. Others will receive the notification via postal service.
