Take a bow, Josh Devine.

The 2022 Manatee School for the Arts grad was a national semifinalist for best actor at the recent National Musical Theatre Championships in New York – aka, the Jimmy Awards – at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.

What a cool way to celebrate turning 18!

Josh finished among the top 16 out of 140,000 students from 1,800 schools and 46 regional programs in the culmination of the Broadway Stars of the Future competition.

After earning the nomination based on his portrayal of the title role in MSA's April production of "Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical," Josh won best actor in the regional competition at Tampa’s Straz Center in May.

The talented teen will major in musical theater at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

• Well done to Jesus Capriles and Vincent Manzano. The Manatee Technical College students took first in the nation in two career and technical student organization competitions, one national, one international.

Capriles won dental terminology in the collegiate division at the 2022 Health Occupations Students of America International Leadership Conference in Nashville. Manzano won the Five-Axis CNC Milling in the college division of the 2022 SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta, plus a $5,000 prize from the sponsor, HAAS Automation, Inc.

In addition, Carlos Suarez and Sarah Granados both placed in the top five at the SkillsUSA Championships. Carlos competed in college-division barbering; Sarah in college-division early childhood education.
