VIN'S PEOPLE: Manatee School District honors Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year

A bow to Carol Ricks and Adrienne Vos.

Ricks, principal at Myakka City Elementary, and Vos, assistant principal at Johnson K-8 School of International Studies, are the Manatee School District’s Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year.

Ricks has led Myakka since 2019, was AP at McNeal Elementary, a student support specialist and teacher at Witt Elementary, and a teacher at Myakka and Tara Elementary since joining the district in 2008.

Vos has been with Johnson since 2020, a student support specialist at Abel Elementary and King Middle, where she was also a teacher, and has been with the district since 2010.

Both are now eligible for the Florida Department of Education’s Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year.

By the way, last year’s district honorees were Tara Principal Laura Campbell and Lincoln AP Irene Nikitopoulos.

Marge Vita is 91 years young.

• And Peggy Coon is a mere 80.

• Among the Bucs’ fans in Munich for last Sunday’s game were Richard and Maria Eurice, a German native, son Brian and daughter Shay, a former Bucs cheerleader.

They met up with Wes and Will Robinson, too.

Jay Horne was also at the Bucs’ victory.

• And Stella Borgen is 14.

Ann Campagna and daughter Pamela Marchese, who visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai last year, did some more traveling abroad. A volunteer at the Humane Society of Sarasota County, Second Chance Last Opportunity and the South Manatee Public Library, Ann spent two weeks in Rome with Pamela. Then Ann spent two weeks on Sardinia.

Barbara Maechtle is 39. Again.

• So is Charlie Wells.

• Well done to Registered Nurses Bindu Cyril, Marissa Bohm, Guadalupe Benitez and Matthew Hopper, all named recent Daisy, Caddy's, and BEE award winners at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

• Say it ain’t so! Kiernan Wilkins hit the Big 4-0!

• And former Plant High deep threat Mike Barber is 64.

• Big ups to Ansley Schneider, Kendall Sharp and Kate Freund, who went 1-2-3, respectively, in Miss Manatee Softball’s 10-and-Under Home Run Derby.

• That’s nine years of wedded bliss for Savannah and Marcus Francis.

• And eight for Krystal and Brent Laudicina.

• Bingo is back, 1-4 p.m. today at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs’ Flynn Hall, 833 Magellan Drive, Sarasota. Doors open 12:30 p.m. Food and beverages are available.
