Breckenridge's update coincides with the news that filming for season six of Virgin River would take place between February 2 and May 17 in Vancouver, Canada, following delays in production due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

Season five of Virgin River dropped at the end of last year on Netflix, with part two ending in a festive cliffhanger in which Mel's biological father arrived and revealed he had something serious to tell her.

While fans will have to wait a little while longer to find out what exactly happens next, series showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has shared a few teasers regarding season six.

Speaking to Deadline, Smith revealed the upcoming season would consist of 10 episodes and feature a time jump.

"Another time jump from the holidays to when season 6 starts," he said.

Smith also shared his hopes for the future of Virgin River, adding that he doesn't believe season six will be its last despite there being no confirmation on a seventh outing.

"There's no plans of wrapping anything up," he continued. "I think, as long as these characters are living, there are always going to be stories to tell, and that's an incredible opportunity for any showrunner."

Virgin River seasons 1-5 are streaming now on Netflix.
