Police ID Hampton man shot dead near Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach police have identified a Hampton man who was shot dead early Monday morning near Naval Air Station Oceana.
Police responded to a call at 3:48 a.m. Monday about a shooting, though the caller didn’t know the exact address. Officers were dispatched but couldn’t find a victim.
At some point, according to a news release, the victim’s family got in touch with police and provided more accurate information. Upon arriving at the 1400 block of Harpers Road, police found 21-year-old Kyree Blackledge dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to call VBPD’s homicide unit at 757-385-4101.
