Virginia Beach police identify man fatally shot by officers during violent domestic situation

Virginia Beach police on Wednesday identified the man two officers killed Sunday during a domestic violence incident.

Police said the officers shot 49-year-old Reynaldo Olivo Jr., of Virginia Beach, after they broke through a barricaded door and found him restraining a seriously injured woman.

The incident began about 4:30 a.m., when police were called to a home in the 300 block of Garrison Place in the Lynnhaven area. The caller reported a man with a knife was threatening to kill a woman.

When officers arrived, they saw Olivo armed with “bladed weapons” and ordered him to drop them, according to police.
