Virginia Beach police investigating Monday morning bank robbery

Virginia Beach police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a SunTrust Bank branch in the Hilltop area Monday morning, according to a news release.

Virginia Beach’s 911 dispatchers received a report of the bank robbery at 9:23 a.m. Monday. The bank branch is located at 711 First Colonial Road, near the intersection of Laskin Road.

Preliminary investigation found that the suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun to an employee and demanded cash. He left after obtaining an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. The suspect then fled in a vehicle waiting nearby.

No injuries were reported during the robbery, officials said in the release.

Virginia Beach police are asking anyone with information about the incident or who can assist in identifying the suspect to call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-562-5887. Tips can also be submitted on P3TIPS.com. Tipsters are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
