Virginia Man Faces Multiple Charges After Car Flips and Spins During Police Chase

A driver fleeing police in Virginia lost control and flipped his vehicle after it was rammed by a pursuing patrol car in the early hours April 22, the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, the pursuit began in Remington and crossed onto Route 29 in Culpeper County.

Deputies said a spike strip was deployed after the driver’s speed reached over 90 mph. The driver of the vehicle, Kevin Keyton of Crozet, Virginia, continued with a flat left front tire for an additional five minutes, with speeds of up to 50 mph.

Sgt Jonathan Kerns then conducted a “pursuit intervention technique”, ramming Keyton’s vehicle to bring the pursuit to an end.

Deputies discovered 34.5 grams of heroin and 10 grams if methamphetamine, along with a handgun and cash. They also said a passenger in the car with Keyton had been prevented from exiting the vehicle.
