Virginia's newest 'DMV Select' office opens next week in Dinwiddie County

DINWIDDIE — The second DMV Select office in the Tri-City area debuts next week in Dinwiddie County.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will open the new office July 25 in the Dinwiddie commissioner of the revenue's office at 14010 Boydton Plank Road. It will be the department's 56th such office and its second in the area after the one in Hopewell.

DMV Select is an agreement between DMV and local governments to offer a limited number of vehicle-related services without having to go to a fully operational DMV service center. DMV Select offices can handle titles and registrations, license plates and decals, disabled-parking placards, transcripts, EZ Pass transponders and voter registrations.

Driver's license issuances and renewals still have to be handled by a full-service center.

In a statement released by the county, Dinwiddie Commissioner of the Revenue Lori Stevens called the new office "a convenient benefit" for residents, especially those in the more rural areas.

Stevens said the DMV Select presence in the administration center "strengthens the county's commitment to provide efficient, effective and excellent customer service.

Hours for the Dinwiddie DMV Select will be 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
